To answer your headline question,I vote no.The HSV treatment should stay special and not be an excuse to shift questionable Daewoo Winstorms.The thing still looks Asian,anyway;I know you said the VE looked a bit American,but I think it“looks Australian”—there is an undeniable Australianæsthetic about it(and I mean this as a good thing).But the Winstorm still looks Korean because of its design,no matter what Simcoe did to it. I know that die-hard Holden fans can tell me that HDT breathed on TD Geminis,but when they were actually built in your country,I accepted them more as HDT-able.And,from memory,Fishermen’s Bend had a bit to play in the later T-cars and it wasn’t all left up to Opel to engineer.
